About Gordons Bay, Western Cape

Gordons Bay (Afrikaans: Gordonsbaai) is a seaport town in South Africa's Western Cape region. It is part of the City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality's Eastern Suburbs area (previously Helderberg Basin). It is named after Robert Jacob Gordon (1743-1795), a Dutch explorer of Scottish heritage, and is located on the shores of Gordon's Bay in the northeastern corner of False Bay, approximately 58 kilometers south of the N2 national road from Cape Town.Gordon's Bay is the smallest of three towns in the Helderberg region (Somerset West, Strand, and Gordon's Bay), and is named after the Helderberg Mountain, which is part of the Hottentots-Holland Mountains that surround the area on two sides. Gordon's Bay was formerly called "Fish Hoek" for many years. Gordon's Bay is made up of three parts: the old village, which surrounds the old port and Bikini Beach, the mountainside on the lower slopes of the Hottentots-Holland mountains that overlook False Bay, and the low-lying suburbs along the main beach, which are the town's most recent growth.Gordon's Bay has bright, white sandy beaches flanked with charming coastal cafés and shaded milk-wood trees. It boasts a genuine, peaceful South African vibe and the most beautiful sunsets. South Africa is a "Favored Golf Destination" where Gordon's Bay, with two 18-hole Championship Courses within a 15-minute drive, five more within 30 minutes, and seventeen more within an hour, can confidently lay claim to being the place to stay to play golf in the Western Cape.

Whether you want to visit, walk around the town, or make Gordons Bay your permanent home, you will not be disappointed. However, remember to contact Overstrand Home Inspections for quality home inspections before relocating to a safe and secure environment for your family.
